r1200r headlight harness fix

my buddy's 07 r1200r needed a new headlight so i swapped in a solid can-bus friendly LED. popped open the housing and found the harness wires were rock hard like plastic. seen this before so not shocked.
couldn't find a replacement harness on the e-Fich, so i'll check with a couple dealers next. if it's a dead end, i'll just rebuild the old one. if anyone knows for sure these harnesses aren't available anymore, let me know so i can stop wasting time searching.

got a 2012 R1200R and i might need to replace my headlight soon too because of a crack i got from a mini crash 2 weeks ago. been putting it off. so thanks for posting this. i will watch this thread so i can piggyback on the info you will get.

but as for you, is the plastic hard insulation due to heat or was it like that material actually?
