the keyless start seemed like a nice feature to have but i seem to be struggling and the bike sometimers doesn read it and its not the smoothest experience. my question is is there a problem if i use the backup plastic key the one that goes at the passenger seat? any problems longterm or i shouldn't worry about it?

Well there really shouldn't be any problem with using the plastic key as it's called "backup" for a reason. The only downside to it is the inconvenience but still, you might wanna go check out the issue with your keyfob. The convenience brought by that is quite unmatched so. It's still worth it.
