Where to get my fuel sensor strip fixed?

It's so expensive to replace my fuel sensor strip and I don't know what to do. I think this is a pretty common problem among 2010 R1200GS, isn't it? Like I know the new ones don't have the fuel strip display because of this, so this is just as expected. Where is the cheapest I can get this fixed? Quotes for different repair shops here in Seattle is around 550-700 dollars with an additional hourly labor of 200. How has it come to this? So expensive and if you can refer me to somewhere cheaper I might just give you an Amazon 50 dollar gift check.

You can get an aftermarket fuel strip for around 150-250 dollars, and you can replace it yourself. Just download the Motoscan app, it'll help a lot.

yeah, the fuel strip issues can be a bit of a headache.. i've been there with my RT. for R1200GS, try looking for an independent BMW specialist.. that will give you a better price than the dealership or do as @miataistheanswer suggested. given the GS's tank size, keeping track of mileage with the trip meter can be a reliable workaround too.

cheers 🍻

Thisd is the reason why bmw switched to a float sensor as a more reliable option. You can go with an oem or aftermarket replacement which isn't all that difficult if you have some skills and knowledge. Also, you'll need a gs 911 tool for calibration. There's the option to bypass the issue if you're willing to bother with manually calculating the fuel and distance

Hahaha, I'm here for the Amazon gift check. Kidding. If anything, I think @miataistheanswer got the best response for you. They deserve the gift check.

It's almost always cheaper getting it done by yourself. You can do it. First there's gonna be fear but you'll get the hang of it and suddenly you won't dread repairs anymore.
