So, the other day, I was out for a ride on my "12 BMW R1200R, enjoying the road when I noticed the tachometer started acting up. At first, it was just a little jumpy, but then it started jumping all over the place, even at idle and low RPMs, I got a bit scared gotta admit so I pulled over to check things out, but everything seemed fine under the hood. I thought maybe it was just a fluke, but the issue kept happening. I've checked the connections, but I'm not sure if it's the sensor, the wiring, or something deeper. I could really use some advice

there could be tons of reasons why you're having the issue and I'm thinking the crankshaft position sensor or some problem with the wiring. If you're skilled enough you can check things yourself or take it to a mechanic

That sounds spooky! A wild tach can definitely rattle your nerves. Have you noticed if it happens more on bumpy roads or smooth ones? Could be a loose connection somewhere.

what about the ground? wouldn't it cause something similar?
