when i had my mtorcycle classes iwas told not to use it and use it only for emergencies. could this depend on which bike you have? let me know fellow owners, any input will be greatly appreciated

1 st rule of biking is that the killswitch is to mess with your budy next to you on the stop light. bike classes are way too cautus for somethings like the killswitch. it doesn't matter what kind of bike you have it wont cause any damage

on my old RT and now with my R1200R, i've found using it regularly hasn't caused any issues.. but i know others swear by the emergency only rule. Your best bet is to check your manual and see what it says specifically for your model

cheers 🍻

you mean, can you use the kill switch every time you want to turn your bike off? yes, it's absolutely safe

Was also pondering about this question... now I only use the sidestand switch to kill the bike.

Using the kill switch to turn off your bike is usually safe, but I've heard also that some people suggest it's best reserved for emergencies only. I chose not to dig any further

Hey @sonicscrewdriver25, for most BMWs like the R1200 series, using the kill switch regularly won’t harm anything. Some riders stick to the emergency-only rule out of habit, but it’s mostly personal preference. Your manual will have the official word for your specific model.
