The r1200 I'm looking at has a heep of problems and I already have a solution to all of them except one. The current owner says that his rear disk shattered one evening when he was riding home. Disks don't shatter under normal conditions and I've seen the invoices that he overhauled the brakes about 15k miles before that and I doubt he took it to the track every day. So is this a common problem or it's an isolated case? Also, if I were to buy this bike, what should I look at to solve the issue from not happening again in the future?

Maybe the brake overhaul wasn't done quite right? Wrong parts or something binding? idk if it's a good idea to buy a problematic bike lol

A shattered rear disc could mean overheating, a defect, or torque stress, if you buy it, check caliper alignment, rotor quality, and torque specs carefully

This could be the problem you're looking to determine @Brokeracer1. Sounds like you're really trying to justify buying this one if ever. I strongly suggest not, just because your username wants you to think you're this broke racer or something LOL. Don't settle for thisss.

This doesn't sound like a good deal to me. I agree with everyone else here. you might get it cheap but the repairs won't be

I've tracked a lot of bikes in my life and I never ever had a disk shatter, let alone the rear one. I'm thinking an isolated incident probably from a manufacturing defect, considering it's practically a new rotor.

Since it was overhauled 15k ago, I'd check if they used quality parts and installed everything right. If youre still interested, maybe ask the owner if there were any crashes or heavy braking incidents before it happened. Also, make sure to inspect the brakes carefully and consider upgrading the rotors if you buy it.

That's not normal. Discs shatter from massive heat stress (like heavy track use or dragging brakes hard for a long time), a manufacturing defect, or external impact (like hitting road debris). Given the normal use, I'd suspect defect or a fluke impact
