My friend wants to buy his first motorbike, I've been telling him to buy an R12r like mine for quite a while. He might want to buy it on the used market though. An R1200r year 2015-2018 with premium package may be great for his budget. I never bought a used bike, so I wonder what would be missing compared to the latest year?

I've read about it somewhere that the front fork is different, and there are others more. Just curious if it's true. Also, there are four seat options for the newer one. Which one is better for a fast ride, 34" or 35" inseam?

honestly the front fork thing is true the older r1200r had the telelever system which some swear by for better stability under braking but the newer model switched to a more typical fork setup which some people actually prefer as for the seat height there's not really a better option for speed between 34 and 35 inseam it's more about what feels right for the rider the 35 might give a bit more legroom but comfort over long rides matters more than an inch difference

For sporty riding, the 34" seat is better, lower center of gravity and more control, but the 35" can be nice for taller riders or touring. Tech wise, newer models have the TFT and more modes, but performance is still strong on the 1200.
